My Answers to Messages From Creationists To People Who Believe In Evolution (after Bill Nye - Ken Ham):
I like this one. This is a popular misconception about evolutionary theory, and speciation.
We did not “come from monkeys”. You are incorrect. We and monkeys that are currently in existence have common ancestors. As we do with all current apes, and all current primates, and all current vertebrates…
SO lets get this across… not all the members of a species evolve in the same direction. Some populations, usually geographically separated from other populations of that species, may evolve to become one form, while the other separated populations may evolve to become another form, or they may simply just die out, and not evolve.
It is not necessary that all members of a species evolve together to become a new species, a population is capable of this, and tbh I’m not sure where this idea came from as a refutation of evolution. Its a misconception, and honestly not a really important question.
Here are some things that evolution does say, and ARE important:
All animals have a common ancestor (species).
No one species is more evolved than another. (read that again). We are all (all species and taxa) the process of 3.8 billion years of evolution, no matter how apparently simple any species may appear.
Because all life on Earth has a common ancestry, species evolving, changing over time, splitting into separate species that split into separate species (think of the branches of a tumble weed from the center to the ever branching tips) etc etc … on and on… we have all come to be the products of the same temporal period of change and adaptation.
This is terribly simplified explanation of speciation and evolutionary theory, but you get the picture.

Watson: Why is Romulus outside my door?
Sherlock: That’s Remus.
Watson: I don’t care which cock I’m holding, I just want to know how it got there. Okay, congratulations. You got me to say it.
Sherlock: I don’t know if you’ve settled on an epitaph yet, but it does occur to me that would look fantastic on a tombstone.
